Downhouse Farm
Café. Unique

Alfresco Dining

Enjoying incredible views of Lyme Bay and the green valleys of West Dorset, Down House Farm in Eype offers the perfect secluded spot to refresh and relax.

In addition to the enviable panorama, the Garden Café offers homemade, unpretentious and wholesome ‘comfort ‘food’, using their own organic meats, herbs and vegetables, as well as a selection of home-baked cakes and scones. All meat is reared on location to exacting Soil Association standards, and the farm’s lush meadows result in exquisite Aberdeen Angus beef, free range pork and lamb.

"Stopped here on the way back from Golden Cap for a much needed cup of tea. As others have said the scones are huge so be warned if ordering two ours were still warm from the oven and plenty of jam and thick clotted cream."

"This is an incredible farmhouse cafe located in the fields of tranquillity and beauty."

"We stopped off here for lunch as we were walking along coastal footpath. We had the dog with us and they couldn't have been more welcoming. "

Shepherds Huts

Should a day’s visit not be enough, you can rent one of Down House Farm’s beautifully decorated shepherd’s huts, which is tastefully furnished by Edward Oliver Vintage Furniture of Sherborne.

It is lit by a small solar powered bulb and the warm flicker of candlelight. You need only open the stable door to enjoy a view of Eype’s green hills rolling down to the sea.

Sweet dreams by the coast...

Eat. Organic Meat

All our meat is reared here on our 380 acre coastal farm. Our animals are all reared to the high organic standards set by the Soil Association. The secret of producing quality meat starts with using the right breeds that best suit our sometimes harsh and frugal coastal conditions, alongside good, skilled and considerate farming practices. We use a small local family abattoir and bring the meat back to the farm where it is well hung and then cut by our excellent butcher.
